Part of that was certainly timing.
Rainy-season weather softened the sunset, the crowds were smaller, and the atmosphere naturally settled into a calmer rhythm as the night unfolded. But in some ways, that ended up revealing another side of the venue that might be easy to miss during a packed high-season afternoon.
